I wanted to know where I can buy moonsand for my preschooler? I can’t seem to find a web site.

What would be VERY useful is if somewhere - anywhere - they would tell you how much sand you actually get. All they say is ”two times the amunt of sand.” Two times what? Two times a handful? And it’s brand new - so they’ve never sold it in a smaller amount. So how can they say it is twice the amount?
Regardless of the quality of the product (which actually looks pretty good), that type of advertising is borderline illegal.

I would like to know the ingredents of moonsand, and is it non toxic? I was looking at the website www.moonsand.tv, it doesn’t state any of this information. I don’t buy anything for my children or anyone elses for that matter if the product doesn’t give this information. Most chemicals are very dangerious for young children.

Just wanted to let you know I called the company at 1-800-622-8339 and was told the product IS non-toxic. Also the size is 1/2 lb of the 2 additional colors and 1lb of the white.

Wish there were a store to BUY it in. ;)

Found this in Walmart for $20! Same thing as on TV, but $10 cheaper! Thought you’d like to know.

they are also sold at target...along with the floam/play-doh...for TWO color bins (the store i went to had six) was for only 5.99! so for 6 tubs its about 18 bucks..a set with molds 2 colors and some molds was 15 bucks, but i think buying just the moonsand itself is enough and just use cheap molds elsewhere...

Hi! Can someone tell me what happens if the Moon Sand gets on the carpet or on clothes? I know Floam was wickedly difficult to get off carpet and clothes...

Does the floam and moon sand come as a set anywhere. I would like to know if anyone has seen them anywhere at all sold together....

We bought our ”sandcastle kit” of moonsand at toys r’us for $20. also available at toysrus.com and it was in stock last time I checked...was hard to find in the actual store- with the building toys on a bottom shelf-none of the employees had ever heard of it but that’s not much of a surprise....
It came with 1lb of moon sand (enough for the inflatable sandbox) and some molds...it’s a good amount of sand. enough that you can fill all the molds it comes with and still have some ”beach” left. My son is 3 today- no interest in the molds but likes the feel of the sand...Feels like mildly damp regular sand but is moldable and squishable (like playdoh).... I don’t know what it does to carpet or clothing but my dear child just had to throw it all over our screen porch and I got it up in no time with my swiffer sweepervac.... easily brushed off my sons legs and feet with a swat of my hand- just like regular sand...
Awesome stuff. Also bought ”extra” sand in cool colors...
One thing- I don’t think the portable sandbox is big enough to keep 2 kids occupied peacefully... I only have one kiddo so not a problem...you could also just use a cheapo baking sheet (one of the disposable ones) as an extra sandbox....
I do like that all of this is easily stowable - the ”sandbox” becomes the carrying case....I think this $20 kit was worth it for that...

Hi Deanna- floam and moonsand do not come as a set...different manufacturers I believe...also then two many people would think they are cross compatible... totally different products...
also around here (we are in florida) you can buy floam everywhere (walgreens has it, the grocery store has it...) but most of it is labeled for ages 7 and up...I used to work in a toy store and a woman said her grandkid ate some and chocked on it...it’s more of a playdoh type product but with texture whereas moonsand is basically sand (I don’t know what they ”enhance” it with...a similar product is sold in europe and the sand particles are covered with a type of wax....)- with sand properties...if you make a ”ball” with floam it will ”stay” if you tap it with your hand while still being squishable-but with moonsand the product once molded easily crumbles....
there is a way to bake moonsand creations though if you really want longevity but I can’t imagine doing that until my kid is waaaaay older....
just some thoughts...

Just thought I would let some of you know that our Target sells it. They had it on sale the other day when I sent for $16, which was for the castle kit and the extra tubs were $5.

Well, moonsand looks really cool! I went on google, (and googled it) but i never got a complete website, and no prices. With my luck whenever I buy something like a (playstation2, ipod nano, portable dvd player) stuff like that, and i always buy it at a high price and like a few months later I find a better one for half of what I payed. I wanted to find out where i can get the best deal on moonsand without paying to much. I dont want to get scammed. (lol) that was a joke. It makes me mad when i find a sweeter deal than what I payed. Has anyone gotten a good deal? if so post it. THX

lets think about this ladies... if it WERE toxic... they wouldnt be selling it to kids... esp. when the use their hands to play with it.

Now that Im reading all of these comments about how cheap this stuff is... I feel like a sucker for buying on off the website for $30 +9 shipping! My 4 year old loved the commercial though so I just HAD to get it ”from Santa”...

Moonsand is new to me...never heard of it til yesterday... I was told that water needs to be added but when I tried it repelled the water (didn’t add much). Didn’t get a kit...just 2 containers of sand. There are no directions for it on the packaging though!!! Can someone help me out please?

No water necessary. I can’t find out what is made of other than sand. Some type of wax coating might be accurate.
From the spinmaster website, they tell you what it ”is not”:
”Moon Sand DOES NOT contain wheat, gluten, milk, egg, casein or peanut ingredients.”

I recently bought moonsand for my granddaughter but she keeps insisting that she saw on the commercial that you can bake the things you create to preserve them. How am I supposed to do that? I have no idea how long I’m supposed to heat it or at what temperature. Can anyone help me????

Just wanted to drop a note to all who bought moonsand for their children and have pets. My six year old was given moonsand as a Christmas gift 2006 - he put the sand in the dogs bowl for who knows why the dog ate and almost died because she could not digest it and it was sticking to the inside of her stomach and bowels - so to save heartache - please watch your pets around the moonsand.

just so you know i just put a note on the blog - but my dog did eat this stuff and almost died. FYI for anyone wanting to purchase the moonsand...IT’S AWFUL!!! It is super messy and if you think by letting them play with it outside so it doesn’t cause a mess in the house is better...you’re so wrong. I even layed out a trash bag on the patio for her to play on and what got off the bag I just swept into the grass. Instead of the sand washing away it just clumped up and stuck to the grass. I do not recommend this product to anyone!!!
